Out-of-town radical patriots threaten to burn down Sloviansk City Council | Ukraina.ru

A rally was held at the City Council in Sloviansk: Protesters demanded that teachers and school principals who have supported Donbas self-defense troops be fired

About 10 people, who called themselves representatives of the Sloviansk community, rallied with posters and flags at the Sloviansk City Council. The protestors demanded that the staff in the culture and education departments be reshuffled and that teachers who support Novorossiya be sacked. Furthermore, the radicals suggested that the teaching staff of School No. 15 be checked for "patriotism and patriotic teaching."

A day earlier, there had been an incident at the school: A student put on a blue-and-yellow ribbon bracelet, and a teacher asked him "to remove the shred from his hand."

In addition, the protestors proposed to "involve students in patriotic campaigns, including making presents for soldiers and weaving camouflage nets."

The protesters brought tires and bottles, presumably Molotov cocktails, to frighten residents. However, they did not use them but promised to "make some smoke" next time if their demands were not satisfied.

Police did not respond to the direct threat from the radical patriots.

Vladimir Suchan: Logos politikos: Nazi Aesthetics from Ukraine: Butchered Meat of Female Bodies

Here is something what Western democrats and liberals, whether soft-hearted lovers or cold-blooded realist undertakers of the "Maidan revolt of dignity" against "Russian barbarism and tyranny," have helped come true: genuine, real, in-your-face Nazi "aesthetics."

Ukrainian Nazi show-business organized a round of beauty pageant "Super-model the Ukrainian Way." The creation of the new Nazi "ideal of female beauty" took place on October 3.

The show and photo-session took place in the bastion of Ukraine's Nazi Banderism in Lvov.

Selected TOP-10 beauties were asked to present their almost naked bodies as butchered, bloodied animal meat.

Pure de Sade and new Nazi aesthetics. Gore, sex, morbidity, necrophilia. The new "European values" as understood and promoted by Ukrainian oligarchs led by Poroshenko, Yatsenyuk, Tymoshenko, Kolomeisky, and Avakov and their Nazi butchers.

Rebellion is imminent in Mariupol — Novorossia News Agency

Tension has been growing rapidly in occupied Mariupol, the inhabitants’ hidden dissatisfaction with the authorities’ actions comes to surface more and more often, reports “Voyenkor-info”.

The official city site had to inform about the more frequent instances of plunder on the part of the National Guards battalions. Particularly, the troopers of Azov battalion commit systematic robberies, rapes and murders systematically in locality Pavlopol of the Novoazovsk district. Also more frequent incidents of abductions were reported. According to local witnesses, funerals of 19, whose bodies had been found in the industrial area recently, took place recently.

Assaults at the punitive soldiers started in response. Several Ukrainian soldiers and volunteers who provided aid to them had already been found dead in the city. The occupants quite definitely fear a rebellion.

Why Are Swastikas Hot In West Ukraine? - The Daily Beast

NoBC4U Note: Another western outlet discovers the Nazis...

LVIV, Ukraine — Ostap Stakhiv, the leader of a political organization of Ukrainian nationalists, The Idea of the Nation, had been looking for popular support for many years without much success. Then the delicate-seeming 28-year-old started thinking that maybe there was something wrong with the insignia—a lion climbing up a steep hillside—printed on the group’s tracts and fliers. So Stakhiv chose another: the swastika, slightly modified, that Hitler adopted as the emblem of the Nazi Party in 1920 and that millions of Europeans, including millions of Ukrainians, associate with death.

It worked. Earlier this week, Stakhiv was busy setting up five tents around Lviv for this month's election campaign. He’s preparing to run for the local parliament on October 26th. The organization's newspaper, with double swastikas on the front page, was being distributed along with other propaganda materials, and Stakhiv and his aid, Yulia, marveled at the strength of the symbol. "A yellow swastika on a black field stands for power and spirit," said Stakhiv.

It also stands for just about everything negative that Russian President Vladimir Putin preaches about Ukraine being taken over by crypto-, and not-so-crypto-, Nazis. But young Stakhiv insists that’s wrong. He says he’s campaigning in opposition to "oligarchs running the country, the actual enemy of Ukraine" and sees his mission as opposing the politics of the current president, the billionaire Petro Poroshenko, who, Stakhiv claims, does not see the real picture.

“A yellow swastika on a black field stands for power and spirit,” said Stakhiv.

"The swastika is a very strong symbol, and as soon as we adopted it, we immediately grew popular among young people,” said Stakhiv. “Those who join us know exactly what they want, and they are ready to go to the very end." Today, Idea of the Nation is represented in 14 regions of Ukraine and counts over 1,000 activists, its leader told The Daily Beast.

How to explain the growing popularity of Nazi symbols in Ukraine? They keep turning up. Ukrainian soldiers have been seen and photographed wearing helmets with swastikas and the letters SS on their helmets.

Ukraine's Neo-Nazis Demand Respect | The Smirking Chimp

For months, the New York Times and other major U.S. news outlets have insisted that it’s just Russian propaganda to say that a significant neo-Nazi presence exists inside Ukraine, but thousands of these “non-existent” neo-Nazis battled police on Tuesday outside the parliament building in Kiev demanding recognition of their Hitler-collaborating forebears.

The parliament, aware of the obvious public relations fiasco that would follow if it bowed to far-right demands to honor members of the Nazi-affiliated Ukrainian Insurgent Army (or UIA), defeated the proposal. That touched off riots by an estimated 8,000 protesters led by Ukraine’s right-wing Svoboda party and the Right Sektor.

Historians blame the UIA and other Ukrainian fascist forces for the extermination of thousands of Poles and Jews during World War II as these right-wing Ukrainian paramilitaries sided with the German Nazis in their fight against the Soviet Union’s Red Army. Svoboda and the Right Sektor have elevated UIA leader Stepan Bandera to the level of a Ukrainian national hero.

But Svoboda and Right Sektor activists are not just neo-Nazi street protesters. They were key figures in last February’s violent uprising that overthrew elected President Viktor Yanukovych and established a coup regime that the U.S. State Department quickly recognized as “legitimate.” Many far-right militants have since been incorporated into the Ukrainian military in its fight to crush resistance to the coup regime from ethnic Russians in Ukraine’s east.

Though played down by the Western press, the neo-Nazi affiliations of these militants have occasionally popped up in news stories, including references to displays of Nazi insignias, but usually these citations are mentioned only in passing or are confined to the last few paragraphs of lengthy stories or are dismissed as “Russian propaganda.”

Kiev Coup is Collapsing | New Eastern Outlook

Once again we see Western aggression leaving nothing but death, destruction and broken states in its wake. There is the old saying that we all are supposed to learn from our mistakes in life, but that is a dead cliché now. We do just the opposite by repeating them over and over. How stupid is that?

The Kiev Coup-meisterings are staggering around like a Spanish bull at the end of a Sunday fight, tired and bleeding. They seem to have no strategy other than lie after lie, their favorite being “The Russians are invading!!” If the military high command had the brains and the guts, they would do a counter-coup, crush the Right-Sector and the Oligarchs, and save what is left of the country. How do I know they don’t have the guts? If they did, they would have done it already.

The West has pulled out all the stops to hide what is happening. Corporate media has gone propaganda all way in this fiasco. Kiev’s under-reporting of its killed and wounded has set a world record. Palace guard troops seem to be outfitted well and can fight accordingly. The regular units have Soviet-trained officers.

The Right Sector battalions seem to prefer fighting unarmed civilians, and of course shelling them. When they are attacked, they give ground while retreating to the nearest regular army unit for support. The National Guard units seem to be on the end of the supply chain and with corresponding morale to show for it. I watched one video of a soldier demonstrating how to dress, roast and eat a snake. But frankly, I prefer the old fashioned lunch box.

For the units that were sent off on flanking movements with no support, they found themselves getting supplied with excuses instead of the needed combat maneuver supplies. The New Republic forces have used the expected tactics of attacking supply columns to resupply themselves, while wearing down the flanking Kiev forces with harassing attacks and mobile warfare.

Most of the Ukie formations that have surrendered were doing so when basically out of anyone to fight with, or when needing medical care for their wounded. They realized they were being used as sacrificial lambs to draw defense troops away from the major cities to make them easier for the main Kiev units to take.

War crimes acceptable? Parliament mulls amnesty for Kiev's troops in E. Ukraine — RT News

The Ukrainian parliament is to debate a law on amnesty for Ukrainian troops who have committed war crimes in the course of military actions in Eastern Ukraine. Earlier, an Amnesty International report confirmed the facts of large-scale crimes.

A bill on amnesty for military personnel who committed war crimes during the military crackdown in Eastern Ukraine was introduced in the Rada (the Ukrainian parliament) on Wednesday, its website says. The bill assumes the discharge of legal responsibility and punishment of military staff and “other people” for the actions which “bear the marks of war crime.”

Earlier, on 8 September, Amnesty International presented a report in which confirmed that such actions were committed by the Aidar volunteer battalion.

Aidar is one of over 30 volunteer battalions which appeared after Kiev started the military operation in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. It is loosely connected with the Ukrainian security structures.

“Members of the Aidar territorial defense battalion, operating in the north Luhansk [Lugansk] region, have been involved in widespread abuses, including abductions, unlawful detention, ill-treatment, theft, extortion, and possible executions,” the AI report says.

15 Russian TV channels banned in Ukraine | Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI).

KIEV, September 10 (RAPSI) – Ukraine's media regulator on Wednesday came out with a list of 15 banned Russian TV channels.

The list includes Channel One. Global Network, RTR Planeta, NTV Mir, Russia 24, TVCI, Rossiya 1, NTV, TNT, St. Petersburg Channel 5, Zvezda, Ren TV, RBC TV, Life News, RT and History Channel.

In July, a Ukrainian court banned Russian Channel One. Global Network, RTR Planeta, Russia 24, NTV Mir and TV Center International (TVCI) at the request of the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting. Initially, the list was to include 14 Russian TV channels.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry defined suspension of the channels as infringement on the freedom of the media. Channel One Director General Konstantin Ernst called on the Ukrainian authorities to revoke the decision that is “in conflict with the rules of international law and subscribers’ interests.”

OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatovic expressed concern over the Ukrainian council’s request that the national operators stop broadcasting Russian television channels. She said: “Banning programming without a legal basis is a form of censorship; national security concerns should not be used at the expense of media freedom.”

The propaganda machine of Kiev suffered a terrible loss. The legend of the brave commander of the «Donbass» battalion Semyon Semenchenko perished. — Novorossiya News Agency

The propaganda machine of Kiev suffered a terrible loss. The legend of the brave commander of the «Donbass» battalion Semyon Semenchenko perished. The mysterious hero, his face hidden under the balaclava helmet at all times, he either popped up in the studio of some «honest and independent» ukrainian TV channel, or posted «the most unbiased» information about the counter-terrorist operation in his blog. Semyon took off his balaclava on Monday. And it became apparent that the enigmatic «Cyberberkut» organization, carrying out a net investigation to reveal Semyon’s true identity, was right: the real name of the battalion commander is Konstantin.

Although he claimed to be born in Donetsk, his real place of birth turned out to be Sevastopol — where his brother who suffers from drug addiction lived until recently. So this version suggests that the mysterious battalion commander is some Konstantin Grishin, small-scale businessman. In his native Sevastopol he’s been remembered as a captain and a helmsman… of the beer bar «Obolon» down at the Gogol street. He took on a reputation of a swindler and a conman by the name of Andrey Semenovich Semenov in Donetsk, to where he moved after marrying Donbass native Natalya Moskovets. As stated by the large number of reports by people who suffered from his shady activities, his and his wife’s company «New Sattellite TV» was a trivial fraud, supplying equipment that didn’t work and cheating employees out of their salaries.

The war brought new horizons for the hero. On his Facebook page Semenchenko called for enlisting into «Donbass» battalion and asked for donations to buy the equipment. Oligarch Igor Kolomoyskiy provided the young pioner camp territory as a training ground for «Donbass» volunteers. Battalion was included into the Ministry of Internal Affairs structure in May. Since then battalion went through 3 «rotations». Better to say, battalion’s ranks were obliterated thrice, and every time heroic commander managed to escape, promptly calling for a new draft of the future deadmen. The rumours started to spread that president Poroshenko had been carrying out a «utilization project» of potentially dangerous radical nazis. So it happened the last time when heroic commander escaped from the Ilovaysk area right on the eve of the death of all his fighters in the pocket. He claims to have a valid reason: a wound, but it could be self-inflicted. For one thing, Semenchenko can move without aid, and looks not that bad. Everybody could see it for themselves, when Semenchenko was visited in a hospital in Dnepropetrovsk by the prime minister Yatzenyuk and the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, who awarded our hero with the Bogdan Khmelnitsky medal, 3rd grade. That was when Semenchenko took off his balaclava. Also he advised to urgently promote to high ranks in the army and the National Guard those commanders who proved to be decisive and effective in battle. Like as not, his guests took the hint. And soon Semenchenko will be promoted and get a nice cozy office in Kiev. Especially with the autumn looming ahead and trenches being so cold and unpleasant in this season.

In Avakov's Eyes Killing People, a Small Price for Nazification of Ukraine and Suppressing the Revolt of Oligarchs' "Slaves"

Just before midnight on September 5, thus only some five hours after the introduction of the strange and politically problematic ceasefire agreed upon in Minsk on the same day, Arsen Avakov gave a TV interview. He came to the interview from the session of the inner security circle of the junta itself. Evidently, a key topic of the briefing of the security strongmen of the junta was planning, strategy and a course action with respect to the "ceasefire." The ceasefire was also, consequently, the topic which opened the interview.

In this case, Avakov's fatigue, arrogance, and insider's knowledge all  combined to reveal not only the character of this Nazi oligarch, but also much of the character of the current oligarchic regime in Kiev, which came to power through "the February revolution," as Avakov dubbed the Maidan putsch in this interview.

The interview is thus very revealing  and also very instruction. How do you know when you talk to a Nazi? Avakov shows how. He is in charge of the ministry of interior, hence also the police. In addition, he is also in charge of the so-called National Guard, which is formed as storm troopers or junta's special forces. These battalions are formed of people who sign up for strictly political and ideological reasons. That's why the Azov battalion with explicit Nazi symbolism is one of them.

The so-called ceasefire

On the subject of the ceasefire, Avakov had to say right off the following: "The agreed ceasefire is nothing but a clever cunning on our part in order to achieve what we want, which is to win." To this effect, the ceasefire is but a small tactical measure; the strategic goal is to overthrow "Putin, the tyrant" and to change the system of Russia itself. This real greater objective and the current war in Ukraine were "planned for years and even for decades." If so, then the personality of Putin is used both as a cover and symbolic shortcut for this decades-old plan.

A deputy was asked to kneel in Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada after she spoke against military operation in Donbass. — Novorossiya News Agency

Earlier today, deputies of Verkhovna Rada suggested to bring their colleague Yelena Bondarenko to her knees, some even went as far as to propose to shoot her. These reactions were incited by her accusing Ukrainian army in shellings of the peaceful cities and towns of Donbass. Her speech was interrupted by Rada speaker Alexander Turchinov.

A scandal broke out today in ukrainian Verkhovna Rada. Deputy Yelena Bondarenko affiliated with “Partiya Regionov” (“Faction of Regions”) mounted the rostrum and suggested to honor those who died in Donbass with a minute of silence. The suggestion was supported by her colleagues.

To bring her to her knees.

The things Bondarenko said next were followed by a completely different reaction. “The government, that is present here, divides people of the state into “ukrainians” and “non-ukrainians”. Government that sends an army to bomb peaceful cities is a government of criminals. Government that takes away the right for education…” that was all she had been able to say before speaker Alexander Turchinov turned off her microphone. Turchinov demanded to stop “provocations and pro-russian propaganda” and claimed that “Ukrainian army protects Ukraine”. “Ukrainian army protects you personally. You should kneel before the ukrainian army” were the words that Turchinov addressed to Bondarenko. After that a quarrel started among deputies, obscene words could be heard.

Ukraine eyes singer blacklist after nationalists disrupt concert — RT News

Kiev may ban ‘pro-Russian’ singers from performing in Ukraine after scuffles in Odessa, where dozens of nationalist activists tried to disrupt a concert by Ukraine’s contender for Eurovision 2008, who they deemed not patriotic enough.

Ani Lorak was due to perform in Odessa nightclub ‘Ibiza’ on Sunday. But local activists from ‘Euromaidan’, a group declaring Ukraine’s integration with the EU as its primary goal, banded together with the nationalist party Svoboda and radicals from the right-wing Right Sector to derail the event. Ukrainian nationalists have been targeting Lorak since May, when she traveled to Moscow to receive two music awards, which was deemed traitorous by some people back home.

The tension has been building up for days ahead of the concert, with the protesters finding support from high in the Ukrainian government. Culture Minister Evgeny Nishchuk said boycotting performances by Lorak “and the likes of her” is “a good and necessary deed.”

... and ...

Commenting on the clashes in Odessa on Monday, Anton Gerashchenko, an aide to Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, said the ministry is preparing a blacklist of some 500 Russian performers, who would be banned from entering Ukraine for “supporting the annexation of Crimea and the partitioning of Ukraine”.

He added he didn’t believe that “Lorak’s guilt is serious enough to prevent her from performing in Ukraine,” because she hadn’t made any public comments on the Ukrainian crisis.

“She only went for some sort of music award. We shouldn’t execute her for that,” Gerashchenko wrote on his Facebook page.

The Slow-Motion Collapse of the Ukrainian State and the Rada’s Capitulation | Oriental Review

Acting Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk recently announced his resignation from the government amidst parliamentary infighting in the Rada, supposedly over none of the factions wanting to take the fall for the upcoming suicidal IMF stipulations. (His desire to leave off the hook ahead of the coming economic and social collapse of Ukraine has apparently come into collision with the interests of Western power groups seeking to establish control over the Ukrainian gas trasportation system first – OR). The withdraw of the nationalist party Svoboda and Klitschko’s (German) project Udar continues the chain reaction of institutional collapse that began in late-November with the EuroMaidan Color Revolution. If a new Rada isn’t formed within 30 days, elections will have to take place. It has already been forecasted that this is nothing more than a ploy to solidify Poroshenko’s power base (Udar is a close ally) and expand the reach of the Svoboda nationalists. These risky and Machiavellian calculations will likely have far-reaching implications, continuing to push Ukraine ever further towards full-scale collapse and spreading the black hole of chaos that has begun to emerge in the country.

Nearing the Precipice

In the run-up to the most recent stage of institutional collapse, Kiev had found itself in a conundrum. After revving up the population for so-called Western integration and signing the EU Association Agreement and receiving IMF loans, the Rada realized that none of its members wanted to be responsible for implementing the brutal economic ‘tweaks’ that both of them necessitate. This is the immediate cause of the current Rada crisis – everyone wanted to ‘join the West’, but no one wanted to take electoral responsible for what that truly means.

Concurrent to this, Ukraine also banned one of its consistently largest political parties, the Communist Party, which polled 15% at the last legitimate election in 2012. For a country trying to ingratiate itself with ‘Western values’, it is contradictory that it would carry out such a policy, however, it cannot be said to be unexpected. After all, there had been loud calls for lustration ever since the February coup against legitimate president Yanukovich. This policy of political (and therefore, social) exclusion has been aided by the nationalist and fascist forces that have swept to power and influence in Ukraine in recent months.

All of this is to say nothing of the enormous humanitarian catastrophe ongoing in the Donbass region, where the UN officially estimates that at least 1,000 people have been killed and over 3,500 injured since the start of punitive operations against Federalist supporters in mid-April. 500,000 refugees have fled to Russia since then, with over 34,000 of them currently being housed by the state.

Report from Ukraine: Beware of mobilization!

Today I felt the difference between the third wave of mobilization, and the previous two. Everyone is calling, people are getting notices. While visiting a friends office in Kiev, who has about 50 employees, guys and girls, one pale employee brought an army summons, a second for this office, first already taken away. Next, I want to share, what I was told by my friends on the phone.
Zaporozhye. During a soccer game, a stadium got surrounded, rounded up a required number of young guys.

Odessa. At a factory (name not specified) in the morning, recruiters refined their lists through the human resources department, and caught their “recruits” right at the entrance.

Mariupol. As a rule, they “fish” for recruits at supermarkets (such as “Obzhora”). In all cases, they are not allowed to go back home. No medical checks, no paperwork. So I advise everyone to avoid mass gatherings of people.
Journalists have shown the speaker Turchinov’s son getting a notice, the one who unleashed this war in April. I don’t know that this is a PR stunt, revenge of the political opponents, a mix-up, but in any case I’m sure there wan’t be any “majors” on the front lines. Statement from the Regional Military Commissioner from Nickolaev, A Ivanov:
In connection with the participation of 79th airmobile brigade in the Anti-Terrorist Operation, it suffered severe under-staffing of military units, so the third wave of the mobilization will be tough.
Translation: brigade is wiped out, residents are horrified, so to grab a new batch of cannon fodder is possible only by means of repressive measures and mass roundups. Even the head of regional council Kremin got a notice. What to do – everyone knows. Still at large, the choice is clear. The choices will narrow dramatically on the front lines. And lastly, in Decree #607 of Jul 21 Poroshenko made cosmetic changes in labour legislation (supposedly to save jobs of enlisted for a year), which nobody will follow. But the most important thing, Poroshenko did not want to allow conscripts help with bank loans, if they lose a job. Die, but pay your debt!

Ukraine: This Little Piggy Won’t be Missed | New Eastern Outlook

NoBC4U Note: Even though it appears that Yatsenyuk is back, it appears to be for the short-term only. Still a worthwhile read...

by Matthew Crosston

One of the odd things inevitably lost in the mire and labyrinth of complex high politics is how often executive leaders purposely and subtly prolong conflict, confusion, and corruption because to minimize it or to make progress against it will signal the start of actually assessing the effectiveness and power of their own leadership. This seemed to be what Ukraine was experiencing under the guidance of Arseniy Yatsenyuk as Prime Minister. Now that he has resigned, let us make sure his ‘leadership’ is not inaccurately assessed and evaluated. Ukraine can do better.

It is easy to forget, since it was never highly emphasized in Western media to begin with (a special exception goes to Forbes.com, which had always looked skeptically and critically at Yatsenyuk, even BEFORE he elevated to his present primary leadership position), but Ukraine’s Prime Minister was a rather uninspiring and non-innovative thinker, whether that be politically or economically. His appeal to Western power brokers was his ability to be pliable, to be worked, to be a ‘company guy.’ Of course, the ‘company’ in question for this discussion was the European Union, not the sovereign national interests of Ukraine.

And that seemed to cause major problems for the ‘new’ Ukraine: the only thing it discussed was whether or not it would follow EU interests or American interests or Russian interests. Its own leader was not apparently striving to carve out and determine what may be truly UKRAINIAN interests and then figure out how those interact and coordinate with the interests of others. This is the high politics formula of foreign affairs and has been so for over a thousand years. Not engaging this formula properly basically means the leader of Ukraine was simply trying to decide which power group to be a vassal state for. This is disappointing, but perhaps not unexpected.

Yatsenyuk was not simply a technocrat (and we all know there has never been a new or innovative idea, EVER, from such types), he was a relatively little regarded technocrat IN HIS OWN COUNTRY JUST SIX MONTHS AGO. At the beginning of the year he trailed in local popularity to figures such as the boxer Vitali Klitschko and the rather wild nationalist leader, Oleh Tyahnybok. This is not exactly inspiring pedigree to pin your political future to as a country. But what Yatsenyuk had was the interest of the European Union and the United States. Again, not because he was particularly awe-inspiring or truly seemed to stand out amongst all possible choices for a better and stable Ukraine: he was the candidate who was most willing to maintain a staunch opposition to whatever maneuvers or initiatives came out of Russia while also not having many independent ideas of his own. And that revealed itself to be one of the major stumbling blocks to closing the chapter on the Ukrainian conflict.
