Theft of Ukraine’s ‘Golden Loaf’ Reflects the Revolution’s Failings | TIME

The disappearance of a symbol of the revolution comes as President Poroshenko's approval rating crumbles

When revolutionaries stormed the mansion of Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovych one year ago, a few of them ran up the winding staircase to the master bathroom, expecting to find the golden toilet that was rumored to be in the house. Instead, as they rifled through the gaudy rooms that day, they found something better, or at least more bizarre: a golden loaf of bread, weighing about two kilograms, that a prominent businessman had given the President as a gift in an elaborate wooden box.

Of all the pieces of cartoonish opulence found on the palace grounds – including a stuffed lion, a golf course, a private zoo and a floating restaurant in the shape of a pirate ship – the golden loaf became the most famous token of the corruption that fueled the rebellion. In the months that followed, key chains and refrigerator magnets of the loaf were sold on Kiev’s Independent Square as mementoes of the revolution and its promise to make politicians stop stealing from the people. But on Tuesday, March 17, its symbolism came full circle when Ukraine’s new government announced that the loaf had itself been stolen.

“It turns out that the location of the famous golden loaf is unknown,” said Dmitri Dobrodomov, chairman of the committee in charge of combating corruption in Ukraine’s post-revolutionary parliament. “In essence, it was stolen. The question is: by whom?” said the lawmaker, an ally of Ukraine’s new President Petro Poroshenko.

It was another embarrassing setback for Poroshenko’s government, which has struggled to keep the pledges of the revolution over the past year as Ukraine fights a war with Russia’s proxy militias in its eastern regions. “With one hand we’re firing back at the aggressor, with the other we’re speeding up reforms,” Poroshenko said in a speech last month, on the one-year anniversary of the uprising that brought him to power. “Once we stop the war,” Poroshenko assured the nation, “it’ll just take a few years before everyone notices how Ukraine is changing.”

But Ukrainians are getting impatient. At the start of February, Poroshenko’s approval ratings dropped below 50% for the first time since he took office in June, according to a nationwide poll conducted by the Research & Branding Group, a leading Ukrainian pollster. More alarming for his government, nearly half of respondents in the survey (46%) said the revolution had failed to meet its goals of uprooting corruption. One in five said they were prepared to take part in another uprising to finish the work of the last one. “This is an incredibly huge number,” says Evgeny Kopatko, the director of the polling agency. “It shows that the protest potential is still extremely high. People just don’t see the changes that they were expecting.”

Mr. Poroshenko's parallel reality - New Cold War: Ukraine and Beyond

By Halyna Mokrushyna, New Cold War.org, March 9, 2015

I thought President Poroshenko could no longer surprise me. I was wrong. Following his desperate performance in Davos, Switzerland, in January, where he presented a chunk of metal from the Volnovakha bus (1) and his Munich security conference speech on February 7, in which the handful of Russian passports he held up in the air were supposed to prove that Russian troops were in Ukraine, he delivered the following masterpiece at the commemoration of the first anniversary of Euromaidan in Kiev: “Ukrainians, who were not born for war, peaceful Ukrainians, took up arms and stopped a well-trained army, one of the most powerful in the world and on the continent . . . ”

I am not a military expert; I know close to nothing about armies, weapons, and war. But I have been reading articles by NATO experts confirming at least one aspect of Poroshenko’s statement. Global Firepower places Russia second after the United States as the most powerful military force, in terms of “conventional war-making capabilities across land, sea and air.” One does not need West Point Academy training to understand that if Putin really wanted to have Ukraine, the Ukrainian army would be finished in a matter of days. I honestly cannot believe that Poroshenko is that stupid. However, in the same speech, he stated that “a newly created Ukrainian army with nationwide support from volunteers stopped the enemy at the far-Eastern frontiers.” What far-East frontiers? Is Poroshenko day-dreaming about the Russian Far-East? Ukraine has never had a “Far-East frontier.”

I also learned from Poroshenko’s speech that Putin had been planning to attack Ukraine for years. He has been preparing the Russian military for just that. At the same time, the Evil Genius was creating a “fifth” column in Ukraine. I guess Poroshenko learned all of this while he was busy opening his chocolate and confectionary business in Russia. This is entirely logical for a president of a country where almost every channel of communication talks about Russian aggression and where Russian television channels are banned as propaganda outlets. Well, how about the propaganda that flows without end from the Ukrainian media? They tell ridiculous lies about “a planned retreat” of Ukrainian troops from Debaltsevo, while, in fact, Ukrainian soldiers were escaping encirclement by the insurgent Donetsk and Luhansk armies after their officers “heroically” left the battlefield.

US Mulls Replacement for Poroshenko – Stephen Cohen / Sputnik International

The political climate in Ukraine is extremely precarious as the situation in Debaltseve and the implementation of the Minsk peace accords indicate that Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is not fully in control in Kiev and his overall position is pretty shaky, says prominent American historian Stephen Cohen.

President Poroshenko is not a strong leader capable of implementing his own strategy, and on many key issues he is forced to depend on other people’s opinion, both inside and abroad, Stephen Cohen, a scholar of Russian studies at Princeton University and New York University, said during the recent John Batchelor Show — a radio news magazine hosted by American author and radio personality John Batchelor.

Implementing the hard-won Minsk accords may prove a near-impossible task for Poroshenko given the number of dyed-in-the-wool ultranationalists now in high places in Kiev in the wake of the recent parliamentary elections.

These people will under no circumstances talk to the pro-independence forces in Donbas.

Moreover, the radical Right Sector organization said loud and clear that they did not recognize the terms of the ceasefire agreed in Minsk. The leaders of the volunteer battalions are no less determined to fight to the bitter end.

Hard as Poroshenko is trying to picture the Debaltseve debacle as a victory, few people are ready to buy it. The battalion commanders openly challenge the authority of their Commander-in-Chief, who, in turn, can do nothing about it because he and his government depend much on the volunteer units fighting in Donbas.

What is behind Poroshenko's hardening rhetoric? - Fort Russ

It’s not necessary to read the article [the blog post links to an article outlining the Ukrainian gov’t latest measures, including the hardening of rhetoric against Russia, the closure of borders, and stepped-up censorship], but the question is absolutely appropriate, and we know what the answers are. Poroshenko wanted a bit of calm, he wanted order that he needs to hold on to power, but instead everything is spinning out of control. So much so that the MFA is making statements about being ready for a full-scale war with Russia.

It’s all very simple.

It doesn’t matter what Poroshenko wants anymore. The economy is collapsing, its strategic enterprises are dying, and there is no money and there will be none. Ukraine’s sponsors in which it had placed its hopes are now practically insulting it—the Europeans are helpfully suggesting that “Ukraine ought to show its attractiveness to investors, while the US equally helpfully points out that “Ukrainians are very ineffectively using their resources,” so not a chance of actual help. Moreover, coal mines are about to close and a hungry coal miner is a dangerous beast.

As if on cue, Mr. Azarov is suggesting the creation of a “Ukrainian government in exile”, and Azarov is not Yanukovych, he is totally dependable, so much so that many of Ukraine’s oligarchs might be tempted to play the role of “prodigal son” to seek his forgiveness, which would mean curtains for Poroshenko. On the other hand there are rumors on the Maidanek [Maidanek was a German death camp in Poland, whereas the Maidan, well, you get the picture] that maybe it’s time to change the president, but not for Yatsenyuk or the Pastor [Turchinov] (both seem repelled by the prospect of this honor), but rather the [Azov commander] Biletsky who is already being groomed for the post of mayor of Kiev [here the article links to a rather lengthy article, one of several that appeared in Ukrainian press in recent days, on the campaign to get Biletsky elected as a mayor of Kiev].

Washington Turns its Back on Poroshenko | New Eastern Outlook

It seems that Poroshenko now has virtually no power over the course of events in Ukraine and he’s almost finished. According to what the leader of Novorossiya, Oleg Tsarov says – he will be overthrown soon; secondly, he does not represent any army because currently he is even unable to perform the successful mobilization since the majority of Ukrainians do not want to fight after all. Thirdly, the real power is the Right Sector, Yarosh, Kolomoisky. As Long as they have the money and weapons, there will be no ceasefire. Why is that?

…For the simple fact that their only interest is power for its own sake and they do not intend to protect the people of Ukraine. It may come sooner than later that either do to corruption/indolence or NATO subversion that all volunteer forces and nationalist partisans from all factions will be branded as criminals or bandits etc…. Quote from facebook of Misathropic Division.

THE Boys mean what they say and try really hard to produce their own weapons in workshops. There is even a video on this issue showing how to do produce an Ukrainian Bullpup.

Another negotiations took place in Minsk for settlement of the military situation in Donbass, Ukrainian government continues to ignore calls of volunteer battalions about necessity of arming for volunteers. But it’s impossible to win a war without weapons. Therefore DUC battalion did it yourself, basing on the fact that we have what we have.

But it seems that the US will be supplying Ukrainian nationalists with “lethal defensive weapons” all the same, despite all contreversy this step may cause, in order to prolonge the war in Ukraine. Tthe leader of the “Right Sector” Dmytro Yarosh has already announced that an alternative General Staff was established, to which the so-called volunteer corps fighting against the uprising in Donbas will be subordinate.

Besides the UKO, about seventeen different volunteer battalions, both divisions subordinated to the Interior Ministry as well as the Ministry of Defence intend to join this initiative - said Yarosh.

Defense Minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic Vladimir Kononov said
I have data that 17 territorial battalions withdrew from subordination to UAF and came under the jurisdiction of Yarosh. This is the “Right Sector.

Poroshenko’s decision not to sell his Ukrainian confectionary corporation comes back to bite him

Amid a war going badly and a flailing economy, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will have more bad news to deal with next week when he finds his confectionary empire challenged in the courts by a British architecture firm. Despite an election campaign pledge made almost a year ago to sell Roshen, the billionaire president has hung on to the company.

Poroshenko has spent much of the last dear ducking that promise by claiming it's difficult to sell Roshen, but the company managed to multiply its profits nine times in 2014, reaping in $34.8 million, even as Ukraine's economy crumbles. Poroshenko himself was estimated by Forbes to be worth $1.3 billion in 2014.

However, those financial gains could come at a political price.

Now British architect Philip Hudson and his firm D'Estate, also known as Jones East 8, are suing Roshen to the tune of $140,000 plus costs. The company's hitherto untarnished reputation is about to come under the microscope, dragging the man that built it along for the ride.

D'Estate accuse Roshen of refusing to pay for 40 percent of their designs, later used by the chocolate manufacturer to build a milk-processing plant in the city of Vinnytsya. And in doing so, Hudson says that the Roshen president and nine percent owner Vyacheslav Moskalevskiy told him the company believes in “mafia management."

“We did a good job for them, and they just decided not to pay us, because they feel they're bigger and stronger than us," said an exasperated Hudson. “It was a case of might and not right."

The architects are now demanding not only the outstanding payment for their drawings plus interest, but also a payment for violating their authorship rights by building their design and changing it.

Poroshenko: In politics, stupidity is not a handicap.

OK, here's another in a set of Photoshop goodies from the series "Petro Poroshenko's Pithy Pronouncements". I probably shouldn't hold on to these too long, because if you believe the rumors swirling around, El Presidente doesn't have that much time left as President.

Again, this is not a real Poroshenko quote. This one is by Napoleon Bonaparte. But just like the last time, this quote seems strangely appropriate given the current circumstances on the Kievan stage of stupidity.

Today's topic? Why, it just happens to be about stupidity!

RUSSIAN FEDERATION SITREP » American University in Moscow

AGREEMENT. Ceasefire. Pull-back of heavy weapons. Autonomy talks. OSCE. Does Poroshenko mean it? Can he deliver? Will Washington let him? What happens if there's a "nazi spring” in Kiev? Or in Galicia? The Donbass wants out. Will the WMSM stop its propaganda? (If Putin is so determined to conquer Ukraine why has he twice signed an agreement by which the Donbass stays there?). There's no provision for vigorous enforcement. The Debaltsevo pocket isn't cleared. It's too much like the last agreement when Kiev forces never pulled back and never stopped shelling. At best, a first small step; at worst, a pause so Kiev can try again (here's Poroshenko explaining they used the last pause to re-arm).

DÉJÀ VU ALL OVER AGAIN. Obama says the US "brokered a deal on Ukraine”. Interesting slip: Washington wasn't part of the 21 February 2014 agreement. Perhaps he's referring to two American officials deciding the new Ukrainian government without reference (well one) to the EU. The ineffable Jen Psaki explains that's not what he meant. Perhaps he meant to say "broke the deal”.

IF YOU WANT ENEMIES, WE CAN DO THAT TOO. Revealing photo: why are Putin and Lukashenko smiling and the other three not? Have Hollande and Merkel just had a reality check? Could it be something like this: NATO says it's taking "necessary measures to respond to the challenges posed by Russia and their strategic implications” and lumps Russia in with "risks and threats” in the southern neighbourhood; "Russia’s aggression against Ukraine is not an isolated incident, but a game-changer in European security”. Should Russia treat these statements from the world's most powerful military alliance as empty prattle? Or should it ask itself why it's selling energy to countries that call it an enemy?

MORE REALITY. The Debaltsevo pocket traps several thousand Kiev troops. (Maps and videos). More talk of "betrayal” and the like. It is said that a million Ukrainians of military age have fled to Russia joining another million or so. Here's a video from eastern Ukraine illustrating the reaction to the latest conscription. Deserters can now be shot. German intelligence says thedeath toll is more like 50,000. Neo-nazis carefully ignored by WMSM. And the solution is more weapons? Kiev started with most of the weapons and has been regularly defeated. The rebels now even have an aircraft they captured. If you prefer, here's a Kiev side account: victory all the way!

An Army Without Culture is a Dull-Witted Army...

Well I went ahead and whipped up some photoshop goodies, mashing together Poroshenko and some quotes by people he'd likely not want to be compared to, or quotes he'd likely not want to be associated with, but which seemed strangely appropriate given the current circumstances.

I highly doubt Poroshenko knows the first thing about culture, nor does his fascists hordes, so he'd never say something like this himself. But he's definitely an expert on dull-wittedness. Only a dull-witted bastard would allow himself to be a tool of the USA and CIA. But if Ukraine has to be stuck with a CIA tool running the place, they might better off with a dull-witted one. Or not.

Here's one for today. I'll be releasing others in the upcoming days and weeks.

Ukraine War- Poroshenko Enflames America's War With Russia? Washington's Blog

Posted on February 10, 2015 by George Eliason

According to the BBC on Febuary 9th President Barack Obama: “The possibility of lethal defensive weapons is one of those options that is being examined.” What this means is if the Minsk talks fail, the US will supply lethal heavy weapons openly to Ukraine if Russia does not get into line with western policy.

Kiev, which has openly denied Russia is invading or sending regular troops into the conflict is now giving Russia an ultimatum. In October I traveled through the Donbass region and did invasive passport checks on soldiers. My findings agree with Kiev on this point.

There are no Russian military units or regular soldiers in the region. I interviewed Spanish volunteers. I spoke with Chechens, Afghanis, Russian citizens, and Cossacks. They are private citizens that have family here or have come to fight fascism so it does not spread further into Europe or Russia.

Even in the face of this According to the BBC Obama further stated “Russia had violated “every commitment” made in the failing Minsk agreement, he added, after talks with the German chancellor on a new peace deal.”

President Obama is under tremendous pressure from the combined Eastern European Caucus on Capital Hill to make this happen. For the nationalists the largest threat to them hasn’t been American democracy as it should have been, and should be. It has been Russia that has taken the lead in this and suffered the most for it.

Ukraine's "peace" President Poroshenko will pay men drafted to fight an extra $60 a day to go kill East Ukraine citizens - Red Pill Times

Talka notes: So, those who are drafted will get an extra $60 a day to fight Poroshenko's genocidal war. A couple of things. He promised something similar many months ago. Whatever happened to that promise? And if this happens, the extra pay soldiers collect in 1 week will be more than the monthly salary of doctors, nurses, teachers, and the police. Sound about right in the new Ukrainia.

Condemnations from America against Poroshenko’s military draft, and now pay raise…nothing.

EU puppets speaking out about Ukraine’s continued escalation of the war…no chance.

Why not use the money recently granted to Kiev from the EU and US to pay drafted citizens an extra $60 a day to go cleanse the East Ukraine of Russian speaking people. No matter what, no western leader will dare speak out against the criminal activities taking place in Donbass.

Next time European leaders gather around a table in Brussels to chew the fat and brag about how good and angelic they are, let there be no doubt that it’s the money from Brussels, and the money from each and every European citizen, myself included, that goes towards fuelling this war.

Today I just paid a portion of this $60 salary bump, per draftee, that will go towards a war that makes absolutely zero sense.

The European Union is infested with war criminals, who use European taxes to fund a war that benefits neo-cons in Washington.

Vicky Nuland was right about one thing…F**K the EU!

The 4th Media » Mariupol-Donetsk-Frunza! Can Poroshenko Escape Crimes Against Humanity Trial?

A little over a week ago Petro Poroshenko ordered an all out assault on Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. Faced with massive losses during the first few days the Poroshenko regime has resorted unsuccessfully to get both republic’s listed as terrorist organizations by the EU and United Nations.

It started with the Volonavaha bus attack after which the bus driver states in an interview with theKorrespondent that a mine exploded and killed his passengers in Ukrainian controlled territory.

Images from the scene taken by the Ukrainian army shows a soldier carrying what appears to be a claymore mine. Claymore mines are directional explosives that are set off remotely or by a trip wire.

Kiev is engaging in a game of escalating crimes against humanity. Each attack on civilian populations has been followed by an all out media blitz trying to place blame on the fledgling republics.

Frunza- The Example not the Exception

When Poroshenko’s nationalist government ordered the new escalation Frunza was attacked again. Caught on video made by the Ukrainian army unit shelling the town, the world can no longer deny that Peter Poroshenko and the Ukrainian Rada are attacking civilian populations. The Ukrainian government and military are guilty of crimes against humanity.

The soldiers in this video are laughing and swearing “At Frunza! Fuck Frunza!” “This is war? This is too much fun to be war” as they fire on the civilian population. Soldiers don’t attack targets without orders. These same orders are being carried out across the Donbass region.

In October I spent 3 days embedded with Commander Alexey Moskovoy’s Prezrak “Ghost Battalion.” I am one of the few western journalists to do invasive passport and weapon checks on soldiers and interview foreign volunteers with more than baseline questions.

During the time I was with Ghost Battalion we stopped in Frunza. It was a typical town with a vibrant market place. We stopped so I could pick up a few things. There was no military targets or presence inside the city limits. Pictured below is the entry to Frunza market place.

A few days after I left, Frunza was attacked by Ukrainian artillery and the market pictured below was destroyed.

Divisions within the Kiev Regime. Will President Poroshenko Be Overthrown? | Global Research

By Ivan Volkov

Translated from Russian by J.Hawk

Arseniy Yatsenyuk already gave orders to conduct an information campaign against the Ukrainian president. Arsen Avakov is collecting compromising information on Poroshenko. A Ridus Exclusive.

Chairman of Novorossia Parliament Oleg Tsarev gave an exclusive interview to Ridus. He said why the Kiev US embassy puppetmasters, together with Turchinov, Yatsenyuk, and the odious oligarch Kolomoysky who is always chasing dollars, want to see Poroshenko overthrown with every fiber of their beings.

Question: Oleg Anatolyevich, you said that the overseas patrons of Poroshenko are preparing his overthrow. How did he fail to satisfy the US president?

There are three groups working on Ukraine in the US embassy. And even though they are competing for influence over policy, just as local elites compete for US approval, they are in agreement that Poroshenko needs to be replaced.

First of all, he has good relations with the Russian ambassador Zurabov and a profitable business in Lipetsk. There are also other factors which I don’t wish to describe so as not to complicate the situation further.

Secondly, Poroshenko is more likely to conclude peace with the Donbass, while the US needs a war. Not because his conscience is bothering due to the innocently murdered children. Poroshenko understands that in peacetime he will have more power. Then he would become the second most important political figure in Ukraine. While the top of the podium is occupied by the US ambassador.

During the time of military operations MVD head Avakov has an advantage, and Avakov is a protégé of Turchinov and Yatsenyuk, who are Poroshenko’s competitors. Then there’s Kolomoysky, who has formed an entire army in the east of the country out of criminal elements, which does not take Kiev’s orders. Poroshenko can deal with his competition only in peacetime.

Question: What are the disagreements between Poroshenko and Yatsenyuk, Turchinov, Kolomoysky?

Poroshenko has been in conflict with Yatsenyuk and Turchinov since Yatsenyuk became prime minister. Yatsenyuk began to earn a lot of money off that job and did not want to share with anyone.

Poroshenko understands that one of them (Yatsenyuk or Turchinov) can occupy the president’s seat. He did everything to exclude Yatsenyuk from the political team. But VP Biden flew in and insisted on a big coalition. Games continued up to then. On the one hand Yatsenyuk wanted a coalition without Poroshenko, on the other, Poroshenko wanted a coalition without Yatsenyuk.

Kolomoysky needs resources to improve his business, which is in a difficult situation. But Poroshenko did not give him refinancing. He received refinancing only once, after he established his assets in the Crimea. Then he threw means his assets onto the currency market, leading to a jump in national currency.

Incidentally, at the moment the hryvnya exchange rate is holding on only because all exchange points have been closed. There is an exchange rate, but dollars can be bought only from “bosses.” The actual exchange rate is 30-40% higher than the state acknowledges.

Foreign Bankers Rape Ukraine | New Eastern Outlook

William Engdahl

Rape of an entire country, just as rape of a small child, is murder. It is a form of murder of the soul and ultimately of the child. Forty five million Ukrainians do not deserve such treatment any more than an innocent four-year-old child does.

If it were not for the fact that the lives of some 45 million people are at stake, Ukrainian national politics could be laughed off as a very sick joke. Any pretenses that the October national elections would bring a semblance of genuine democracy of the sort thousands of ordinary Ukrainians demonstrated for on Maidan Square just one year ago vanished with the announcement by Victoria Nuland’s darling Prime Minister, “Yat” Yatsenyuk, of his new cabinet.

The US-picked Ukraine President, billionaire oligarch Petro Poroshenko called “snap” elections at the end of August for October 26. He did so to make sure genuine opposition to his regime of murderers, gangsters and in some cases outright Nazis would be able to push an unprepared genuine opposition out of the Verkhovna Rada or Parliament. Because the parliament had significant opposition parties to the US-engineered February 22 coup d’etat, they had blocked many key pieces of legislation that the Western vultures were demanding, from changing key land ownership laws to privatization of precious state assets. By law, the old parliament would have sat until its five year term ended in October, 2017. That was clearly too long for State Department neo-con Ukraine puppet-mistress Victoria Nuland and her backers in Washington.

Now, with a new parliament that is controlled by the Petro Poroshenko bloc as largest party and the boyish-looking former Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who is also new Prime Minister as head of the second largest party, the way was clear to get on with the rape of Ukraine. What shocked some is the blatant foreign takeover that followed, like a Wall Street vulture fund raid on a distressed debtor country of the Third World.

The ridiculous charade

Yatsenyuk, former finance minister in a previous criminal regime, and a suspected senior member of the US-intelligence-friendly “Church of Scientology,” has named three complete foreigners as cabinet ministers in key economic posts. And in an extraordinary act, the three have been made instant Ukrainian citizens by Poroshenko in a ridiculous ceremony. Ukraine is looking more and more like the US-occupied Philippines after the Spanish-American War of 1898 when General Arthur MacArthur, father of the mentally-dis-ordered Douglas, was Washington’s dictator on the spot.

The new Ukrainian Finance Minister, the one who will control the money and decides where it goes, is one Natalia A. Jaresko. She speaks fluent Ukrainian. Only problem—she is an American citizen, a US State Department veteran who is also a US investment banker. Now, the Ukrainian Constitution, prudently enough, stipulates that government ministers be Ukrainian. How then does our sweet Natalia come in?

The President of Ukraine, another Victoria Nuland favorite, the “Chocolate King” corrupt oligarch billionaire, Petro Poroshenko, made her a Ukrainian citizen in a bizarre ceremony the same day just hours before the parliament declared her Finance Minister.

Ukraine will rapidly turn into an aggressive puppet state | Ukraina.ru

Petro Poroshenko has granted citizenship to three foreigners who are deemed to have ministerial posts

Ukrainian citizenship was granted to a U.S. citizen of Ukrainian descent, a Georgian and a Lithuanian.

"Ukraine is facing very unusual challenges: an extremely complicated economic situation, Russian aggression, the need for radical reforms and a fight against corruption. All that calls for non-standard solutions in government management. These solutions mean a search for candidates for the new Ukrainian government not just within Ukraine but also outside Ukraine, especially in those countries with experience in coping with systemic crises both internal and external," Mr. Poroshenko commented on his decision.

How can this decision affect Ukraine’s policy and where will it take it? We asked this question to Volodymyr Skachko, a known Kiev journalist:

"These actions are not going to have any effect on Ukraine’s policy. I have already compared the appointment of foreigners to the ministerial positions with an attempt to revive a Cossack long dead by putting amber beads from the Baltic states and a cold U.S. hamburger in one hand, and Georgian barbeque in the other.

Once it died, it’s dead. If Ukraine now demonstrates all the signs of failure and incapability, no new staff additions will help. They just confirm that Ukraine has not been independent for a long time, that it does not have independent authorities and it cannot do anything by itself. Ukraine needs underbosses so as to prevent it from disintegrating into pieces and to make it continue the assignment the February 22, 2014 coup was arranged for.

Why is Poroshenko still President?... | Ukraina.ru

"Support for Petro Poroshenko plunged after six months in office. Disappointment in society is growing daily," Dmytro Kolisnichenko writes

Ukrainians are recovering from a stifling fog after they believed the fairy tale about a new life and voted for a head of state amidst anarchy and no real political competition.

Some events, such as the catastrophic decline in living standards that have pushed modern Ukraine to the nearly starving 1990s, are understood and perceived by everyone. Some other things, such as Holodomor in Donbas, have yet to find their way to the majority of Ukrainians, who are dominated by global media propaganda that carefully hush up the problem. When this happens, they will be terrified.

A growing number of Ukrainians understand that the current Ruin is caused not only by objective factors (blunders made by former authorities, the loss of Crimea and Donbas), but also the actions of the current authorities, headed by the president.

No billions were needed to start fighting corruption, rein in the oligarchs and bring order to the banking system. What was needed was a political will that should have been displayed by Petro Poroshenko.

However, the incumbent president of Ukraine was and still is primarily a big businessman, an oligarch. And only after, secondly, is he the guarantor of the Constitution. Petro Poroshenko’s assets (which were only growing during Yanukovych’s term in office) never disappeared, and his key priority today is to preserve them. And, where possible, to increase them.

Fort Russ: Kolomoisky declares war on Poroshenko

Blogger/Media Expert Anatoly Sharij

Igor Valerevich Kolomoisky is in a difficult situation. And Petro Poroshenko, whose surrounding frankly missed the swelling abscess in the form of a powerful opposition, is already faced with a blatant mud-slinging through incessant leaks in oligarch-controlled media.

About the effectiveness of such leaks, no matter how immoral and ridiculous, ask Oleg Lyashko, who lost a huge percentage of potential voters in a targeted bombardment from Channel 1+1.

It becomes quite obvious that as a result of negotiations around the coalition, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, no doubt - a henchman of Igor Valerievich, will not receive positions expected by Kolomoisky.

This situation is clearly not acceptable to the sponsor of Arseniy Petrovych and "Popular Front."

Privat Group, which is actually in bankruptcy, is not receiving refinancing of Privat Bank from the NBU (National Bank of Ukraine), as it was done during the time of Cubiv, when already lost property was used as a collateral, have not been able to adequately profit from the war, lost assets in Crimea and the East, and has no options for maneuver.

It has to strike. And the target is the President, who controls NBU (through Gontareva), which is a barrier to the implementation of lobbying decisions in favor of Privat. If the Cabinet will not belong to Kolomoisky, the oligarch will lose.

Russian news: The Kiev Coup Was the Spark That Lit the Powder Keg. Now Ukraine Has Nothing - Russia Insider

Ukraine has been transformed dramatically since the latest ‘Maidan rising’ a year ago. Its domestic politics and geopolitical standing are hardly recognisable, its economy is on the brink of meltdown and insolvency.

The Original Sin

What follows is a short of review of what has happened in Ukraine since what should be correctly be described as the “Original Sin” – the forceful overthrow of the democratically elected government in Kiev on February 22 of this year. The violent coup with strong and obvious western backing that witnessed the fleeing of President Viktor Yanukovych shattered the country’s legal and constitutional order. This traumatic event continues to have a ripple effect impacting every sphere of life in Ukraine.

The Ukraine narrative offered by the West always stresses democracy first and foremost. And elections are a fetish to the desired result of democratic legitimacy. Ukraine has hardly earned high marks in the area, irrespective of U.S. State Department proclamations and denials of direct involvement in deciding political outcomes in the country.

The parliament that took control immediately after the coup was purged. Then it voted on important constitutional issues without a quorum and without the involvement of the Constitutional Court. All very illegal under Ukrainian law, but praised in the West. Thus, at the heart of the new powers-that-be who rule in Ukraine is legal illegitimacy.

The May 25 presidential election that saw Washington favourite Petro Poroshenko elected in the first round was conducted under conditions of violence, intimidation and civil war in the East of the country. The same can be said of the parliamentary elections in October. Nonetheless, the West gave the new government in Kiev the seal of approval. At the same time, elections held in Donbass – a clear example of self-determination – were called illegitimate. At this point we have competing narratives of legitimacy in Ukraine, something that points to an inevitable break-up or partition of the country.
