Estonian Sports Hero Condemning Fascism Told to Go Read Works of Hitler

In an op-ed for Estonian news portal Delfi.ee, EKRE member and former Olympic champion Mait Riysman criticized his party’s defense of an MP who had praised Nazi Germany and the “positive nuances of fascism.”

The Estonian Conservative People’s Party (EKRE), embroiled in a scandal earlier this month involving a recently elected parliamentarian’s comments about the “many positive nuances” of fascism, was hit again on Saturday in an op-ed by a famous party member and national sports champion who said that he had once been told that he was just another “illiterate athlete who must first go to the nearest library and read the works of Hitler.”

Earlier this month, the EKRE was hit by scandal following local media’s discovery of an old blog post by recently elected MP Jaak Madison, who noted in 2012 that he saw “fascism as an ideology that consists of many positive nuances necessary for preserving the nation-state.” The young politician also noted that while “it’s true that there were concentration camps, forced labor camps, and a fondness for the use of gas chambers, at the same time, [the Nazis’] ‘iron-fisted’ rule did bring Germany out of deep trouble as the development initially based on military industry growth made the country one of the most powerful in Europe in just a few years.”

The scandal widened after Madison tried to defend the post, which had also appeared on the party’s website until recently, saying that it was merely “a hasty attempt to apply moral relativism to different political systems,” Estonia’s Public Broadcasting had earlier explained. Party leader Mart Helme’s defense of Madison only sunk the party further, his statements that the opinion piece was dug up on the orders of the Kremlin proving unconvincing. Prime Minister Taavi Roivas condemned both the statements and EKRE’s defense of Madison, noting that “the text of his blog is completely at odds with my values,” but adding that “in Estonia we have freedom of opinion and expression, and we have to protect these values.”

Why the Rise of Fascism is Again the Issue » CounterPunch

by JOHN PILGER

The recent 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz was a reminder of the great crime of fascism, whose Nazi iconography is embedded in our consciousness. Fascism is preserved as history, as flickering footage of goose-stepping blackshirts, their criminality terrible and clear. Yet in the same liberal societies, whose war-making elites urge us never to forget, the accelerating danger of a modern kind of fascism is suppressed; for it is their fascism.

“To initiate a war of aggression…,” said the Nuremberg Tribunal judges in 1946, “is not only an international crime, it is the supreme international crime, differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole.”

Had the Nazis not invaded Europe, Auschwitz and the Holocaust would not have happened. Had the United States and its satellites not initiated their war of aggression in Iraq in 2003, almost a million people would be alive today; and Islamic State, or ISIS, would not have us in thrall to its savagery. They are the progeny of modern fascism, weaned by the bombs, bloodbaths and lies that are the surreal theatre known as news.

Like the fascism of the 1930s and 1940s, big lies are delivered with the precision of a metronome: thanks to an omnipresent, repetitive media and its virulent censorship by omission. Take the catastrophe in Libya.

In 2011, Nato launched 9,700 “strike sorties” against Libya, of which more than a third were aimed at civilian targets. Uranium warheads were used; the cities of Misurata and Sirte were carpet-bombed. The Red Cross identified mass graves, and Unicef reported that “most [of the children killed] were under the age of ten”.

The public sodomising of the Libyan president Muammar Gaddafi with a “rebel” bayonet was greeted by the then US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, with the words: “We came, we saw, he died.” His murder, like the destruction of his country, was justified with a familiar big lie; he was planning “genocide” against his own people. “We knew … that if we waited one more day,” said President Obama, “Benghazi, a city the size of Charlotte, could suffer a massacre that would have reverberated across the region and stained the conscience of the world.”

This was the fabrication of Islamist militias facing defeat by Libyan government forces. They told Reuters there would be “a real bloodbath, a massacre like we saw in Rwanda”. Reported on March 14, 2011, the lie provided the first spark for Nato’s inferno, described by David Cameron as a “humanitarian intervention”.

Colonel Cassad (in English) - The first anniversary of the start of the civil war in Ukraine

It might make you hate. But we do not want hate. We want a reasoned understanding of the criminality of fascism and how it should be opposed. We must realize that these murders are the gestures of a bully, the great bully of fascism. There is only one way to quell a bully, and that is to thrash him... (с) Hemingway

Exactly one year ago a civil war started in Ukraine. The people were perishing even before the shooting of people in Kiev on the 20th of February, but it was precisely the 20th of February http://colonelcassad.livejournal.com/1418551.html (in Russian) which became a milestone after which the events turned towards the track that is fatal for the Ukraine. The coup, the disintegration of the country, and large-scale military action, which followed the bloodbath finalized the "Ukrainian path towards Europe". Actually, even before the fact of the coup that happened on the 21st of February, by the evening of the 20th of February it became clear http://colonelcassad.livejournal.com/1419873.html (in Russian) that there are no "clever plans" and that there is a total catastrophe of the ruling regime of Yanukovich, which pulled the Ukraine to the bottom along with itself as it was going down.

As for me personally, then despite all my skepticism towards eloquent tales of "Yanukovich's clever plan", first didn't think that the Ukrainian Gorbachevism will end with an actual civil war a la Yugoslavia. A complete understanding was achieved by me personally on February 16, when the fascists publicly beat up the peaceful protesters in Kiev. Back then I wrote http://colonelcassad.livejournal.com/1410828.html (in Russian) about the civil war against the fascism, not imagining that in the nearest months this war will stop being just a figure of speech.

What can a citizen do when he is facing fascism in his own country? He may accept it and hope to survive the "time of troubles" in the hope that it won't touch him. This is a naive layman illusion, which the rank-and-file Germans enjoyed until the moment when the fascism brought into their cities not just the happy news from the fronts, the goods from the subjugated lands and the eastern slaves, but also the flows of bombs that destroy their cities and kill women and children, and in the end – an utter collapse of the state and the dismemberment of Germany. So those who intend to sit it out are lulled into complacency – as the fascism spreads, it touches everyone.

In this respect it is important to understand that convincing the fascists that they are wrong is a pointless and useless task. Naked force, which is used by the fascism, must be counterbalanced by naked force – that is, semi-militarized units, which must be created by communist and anti-fascist organizations and also by those citizens who understand what is fascism and what it brings. These units are necessary because the security apparatus of the Ukrainian not-quite-state is unable to fulfill the elementary duties of suppressing the fascism.

Naturally, the question of the legality of such actions arises because the officials use their one hand support the fascists and create a maximally beneficial environment for them and use their other hand to block any attempts to self-organize for fighting the threat of fascism. In this respect it is important to understand that, from the point of view of the existing government, the struggle against fascism is illegal. If you, seeing the deception of the current authorities that encourage fascism, try to create a structure for fighting against it and participate in it, then you are most likely crossing the line of the law. Such is the Ukrainian reality, unadorned.

And this is a simple choice. To obey and to limit oneself to peaceful rallies, where the fascists can beat up civilians with impunity or to follow the opponent's example, acting on the principle "of turning a deaf ear".

It is enough to observe how the fascists behave: if the prosecutor's office forbids something, then they do it. If the judge prohibits their rallies, they rally. A minister ruled to disperse? They stayed. Some of the militants were detained? They applied forceful pressure and the authorities let them go. All of these actions are illegal, but they work. Until the anti-fascists will understand that by remaining within the boundaries of the Ukrainian law they disarm themselves in the face of the fascists, the civilians will be beaten up hard, just like when they attacked the veterans of the Great Patriotic War in Lvov several years ago, giving the fascists the pretense to scoff on the subject of weakness and worthlessness of the anti-fascists, who are good only for rallies and for running away from sticks and kicks. And this is a weakness, which only convinces them that they are right, that this is exactly the way for them to achieve their goals.

It is time to get rid of the illusions that your voice of reason will be heard in the twisted world of fascism. The chant of "let there be no war" doesn't work either, because fascism is war, and there is no way to run away.

It must be plainly understood that no matter how the current crisis will end and no matter who will become president in 2015 – Yanukovich, Tymoshenko, Yatsenyuk, or Klitschko, the fascism itself, which showed its teeth during the Kiev winter of 2014, won't go anywhere; it already became a factor of the Ukrainian reality and sooner or later there will be a war to its destruction. And the sooner people will understand it, the lower will be the final price that will have to be paid in the end for the elimination of the Ukrainian fascism.

“Anti-Maidan” Channel Pulled by YouTube… Sources Tell Me Uniates Behind this Tragedy | Voices from Russia

THIS is how the present junta in the Ukraine came to power… through an anti-constitutional coup (President Yanukovich didn’t resign in a proper and legal fashion… the neofascist junta took power without an election or referendum). Fancy that they scream about “the rule of law”, when they didn’t follow it in the least! “Winning is the only thing”…

______________________________

One of the best “go-to” YouTube channels documenting Uniate war crimes in Novorossiya is no more. Sources tell me that Uniates ganged up and accused them of “hate speech”. There are ways of avoiding this. Firstly, don’t EVER succumb to provocations from Uniate cybertrolls. Their intent is to accuse you of “hate speech”. My advice is to not answer ANY Uniate comment in any forum directly. DO NOT DO THIS. They WILL accuse you of “hate speech”. What you can do is to make reasoned comments, however, you must understand that a standard Uniate tactic is to pile on any comment that they find “anti-Ukrainian”, make personal accusations about the poster, hoping that’ll provoke them to anger. Then, the Uniates go crying to the site administrator, claiming that you’re “offending” them and demanding YOUR removal.

Firstly, always make it clear that you’re not making comments on any individual or group of individuals… that is, don’t fall into the “hate trap”. Yes… they don’t “fight fair”… live with it. They believe in “winning is the only thing”, just like their Anglo masters do. You must NEVER reach into the gutter, even though this-or-that interlocutor may do so. Stick to facts… S A Bandera WAS a felon… he was in a Polish prison for murder. The Galizien Division WAS in the SS, and it did participate in war crimes. The OUN DID murder thousands of Poles in Volyn… the monuments to the dead exist. Galician Uniates were NOT part of the so-called “Famine”… they were in Poland, and didn’t suffer at all. Both the PACE and the UN rejected the fairy tale of the “Famine”… however, a famine in conjunction with Collectivisation DID take place, but it wasn’t genocide, as it didn’t target a nationality, nor was it a planned action. Actually, most of the famine occurred because peasants destroyed livestock and crops rather than turn them over to the Kolkhoz… that is, sadly, a good deal of it was self-imposed (I realise that this WILL open me up to all sort of accusations, but one MUST speak the truth). You do NOT destroy your basis of livelihood! What happened is that the communists requisitioned grain for the cities (for the workers DID support the Reds) and since the peasants destroyed their surplus, it meant that they had nothing to live on. The areas worst-hit were in Kazakhstan and the Upper Volga, not the Ukrainian SSR!

Also, bear in mind that not all Uniates are the same. Most of the feral sorts identify as “Ukrainian Catholic”. I’d say that virtually ALL “Byzantine Catholics” are guiltless and aren’t part of the fascist “amen corner”. That’s because most of these people arrived before 1920, and, furthermore, most of them came from Podkarpatskaya, not Galicia (the former was under Hungary, the latter under Austria, and that DID mean something in the pre-World War I Dual Monarchy). In fact, I have Byzantine Catholics who’re part of my Cabinet… the murderous enormities of the Galician Uniates sicken them to no end. As for “Ukrainian Catholics”, there are two groups. One group is much like the Byzantine Catholics, they came from Austria-Hungary prior to 1920. I’ve found that most of these people are sane and that most reject the war crimes of the present Kiev junta. However, they must keep silence due to pressure from post-World War II DPs (and their families)… many of whom were Nazi collaborationists. Some have told me that a group of neofascists took over the “Ukrainian Catholics” after World War II. In fact, in many such parishes, there are two liturgies… one for the sane people, the other for the “gun runners” (that’s what one disgusted person calls them). These nutters even oppose the use of Staroslav! They insist that everything has to be in modern Ukrainian… they don’t even like their own traditions!

Be careful… as you can see, there are guilty parties and guiltless parties. Don’t ever mix them up. Yet, if a Uniate cybertroll crosses your path, LET THEM BE! What is best is to avoid the venues where they congregate. It’s not worth the trouble to refute them. They’re well-organised in the diaspora… we Russian Orthodox aren’t… our disunity and lack of a common purpose hobble us. That is, our problem is more intramural than external… we need to “get our shit together”… our enemies do take advantage of it, and our voice isn’t heard, in consequence.

Keep it focused! DO NOT HATE! Remember that these loud SOBs aren’t the whole group. Oppose them… counter lies with truth… but, please, do keep it straight. We’re the voice of our compatriots and coreligionists in the West… let’s do it right. Keep the faith…

New Parliament to Destabilize, Embarrass Ukraine: Expert | Analysis & Opinion | RIA Novosti

WASHINGTON, October 27 (RIA Novosti) - A number of leaders in the new Ukrainian parliament are from previously obscure extremist groups, and can be expected to try and force a new wave of intolerance and muzzling of debate and criticism within Ukraine, Martin Sieff, veteran US foreign correspondent told RIA Novosti on Sunday.

"The real victors in these elections are the neo-fascist extremists," Sieff said, adding that the results will be hailed as a triumph for moderate mainstream American and European-style democracy in Washington and Brussels, however they will be anything but. "This parliament will prove to be a deep embarrassment to the European and American leaders who are so rashly welcoming it. It will be part of the new wave of reckless neo-nationalism, intolerance and racism that we already see sweeping Central Europe from Poland to Hungary," he added.

According to Sieff the prevalence of new and previously marginal extremist parties in the new parliament is certain to prove destabilizing and troublesome.

"It is a universal myth in the West that the simple fact of holding elections will make government and economic progress in those countries more stable and successful," Sieff said. "We have already seen in Egypt and Iraq that this is not always the case. We are about to see that lesson repeated in Ukraine," he noted.

Ukraine's parliamentary elections are likely to lead to increased instability and internal communal conflicts rather than reduce them, the journalist asserted.

According to the exit polls, the Petro Poroshenko Bloc is leading Ukraine's snap parliamentary elections on Sunday with around 23 percent of the ballot as seven political parties have passed the vote threshold.

Vladimir Suchan: Logos politikos: Is It Possible to Fight Fascist Oligarchy in Ukraine without Principles? No. -- So?

Sometimes, it is healthy and helpful to try to define and publish one's principles before espousing unprincipled pragmatism or muddling through.

When faced with the rebooting of Banderism and Nazism in Ukraine, we are faced with a challenge that is politically and civilizationally both radical and fundamental. In this case, the need for developing and stating one's own fundamental principles is not merely prudent or optional, but rather vital. It is also necessary. An unprincipled stance or politics won't work.

To formulate, publish and explain one's principles in this situation is not only necessary vis-à-vis the opponent, it is, arguably, even more important with respect to one's own side. Clarity is not just helpful here. It is essential.

One ought to have a program. And program requires, as a rule, sound principles.

In the case of the conflict in Ukraine, some of the tentative principles could be stated as follows:

1. Every sovereign nation is entitled to sovereign decisions (this is the US and NATO stated position or "principle" vis-à-vis Ukraine, which they normally don't recognize in relation to anyone else but themselves). However, this was never unconditionally true. There are other international principles and rules, including those of the UN Charter. In this particular case, Ukraine's sovereignty has three radical limitations:

Messed Up Ukraine - Top 10 'Patriotic' Children

Ukrainian Member of Parliament shaming 5 year old for having Russian names

The Member of Parliament Iryna Farion for the party Svoboda who took power at the 2014 revolution in Ukraine, tells children in a kindergarten that their names are wrong.

This woman has also said things like, the demonstrators against the government should be killed, and after the arson fire in Odessa that killed 35+ anti-Kiev demonstrators, she wrote on Facebook: "Bravo Odessa.... Let the demons burn in hell".

Vladimir Suchan: Logos politikos: Facing Capitalism's Big Reset and Fascism: What Is at Stake in Ukraine

A new article by Joshua Tartakovsky, "Israel and Ukraine: Ridding the Nation of the Undesirables," which draws parallels between Palestine and Donbass, on the one hand, and Israel and the Nazi regime in Kiev, on the other hand, made me neglect my duty to look at posts packed with clichés and to reflect on some of those bigger issues, which get lost in the haste of news and issues of the moment.

The category of the undesirables evokes another historical and political category--that of superfluous people. This category not only accompanies like a shadow the history and musings of modern political economy, but it was also part of theorizing about "totalitarianism" after World War II.

Producing much of superfluous money in the hands of the few (reportedly the value of derivatives is now about $2,000 trillion from $500 trillion in 2008), our late capitalism under its neo-liberal and neo-conservative form has also produced a critical mass of the so-called superfluous people, as seen from its one-eyed, narrowly focused greed.

This is not only means that one needs to be pay careful attention the mention of "superfluous people," one of the give-way terms dropped here and there by Hannah Ardent in her big and also admittedly strange book "The Origins of Totalitarianism."

The financialization of capitalism thus leads not only to financial bubbles. It also leads to the final forms of capitalism--as if back to its beastly form. After all, if Hobbes' Leviathan, the modern state, is anything, it is a beast. And so is Machiavelli's Prince.

And when the capital beast of the system feels that there are both simply too many people and too many people who might cause a trouble, it starts seeing all around itself or at least in a number of places too many of "superfluous people." The "natural balance" of the "market" needs to be restored. It needs to be "reset." Literally, that means "setting back." Or, as fascism also insisted, back from too much democracy and from too much of the Enlightenment.

That's when the system brings in a world war or fascism. Or something similar.

Ukraine eyes singer blacklist after nationalists disrupt concert — RT News

Kiev may ban ‘pro-Russian’ singers from performing in Ukraine after scuffles in Odessa, where dozens of nationalist activists tried to disrupt a concert by Ukraine’s contender for Eurovision 2008, who they deemed not patriotic enough.

Ani Lorak was due to perform in Odessa nightclub ‘Ibiza’ on Sunday. But local activists from ‘Euromaidan’, a group declaring Ukraine’s integration with the EU as its primary goal, banded together with the nationalist party Svoboda and radicals from the right-wing Right Sector to derail the event. Ukrainian nationalists have been targeting Lorak since May, when she traveled to Moscow to receive two music awards, which was deemed traitorous by some people back home.

The tension has been building up for days ahead of the concert, with the protesters finding support from high in the Ukrainian government. Culture Minister Evgeny Nishchuk said boycotting performances by Lorak “and the likes of her” is “a good and necessary deed.”

... and ...

Commenting on the clashes in Odessa on Monday, Anton Gerashchenko, an aide to Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, said the ministry is preparing a blacklist of some 500 Russian performers, who would be banned from entering Ukraine for “supporting the annexation of Crimea and the partitioning of Ukraine”.

He added he didn’t believe that “Lorak’s guilt is serious enough to prevent her from performing in Ukraine,” because she hadn’t made any public comments on the Ukrainian crisis.

“She only went for some sort of music award. We shouldn’t execute her for that,” Gerashchenko wrote on his Facebook page.

Ukraine: When the Lunatics Run the Asylum - English pravda.ru

Arsen Avakov is Certifiable

Arsen Avakov, the make believe "Minister of Internal Affairs," is certifiably insane. Anyone can check out his facebook page and read the lunatic's very own words. He believes in human sacrifice, that Ukraine needs "atonement" in the form of human lives, which explains why he is directing a Genocidal, murderous campaign in Novorossiya, committing crimes against humanity, war crimes and crimes against peace.

Avakov also considers their people who die carrying out his orders as part of the "atonement." He also stupidly makes a reference between ATO (anti-terrorist operation) and the English equivalent to "ATOnment" as though it has some sort of mystical significance. He has a sick mind, not unlike the rest of the illegal junta, particularly Mr. "subhuman" Yatsenyuk, and Doctor Strangelove Timoshenko who wants to resort to the use of nuclear weapons to get rid of the pesky Russians.

These words are from Arsen Avakov, Ukraine's "Minister of Internal Affairs" June 23,2014 FaceBook page --- https://www.facebook.com/arsen.avakov.1

In these few days talking a lot with our zone ATU - from general to soldier. And I want to say a few words about the truly important things. War cannot generate light feelings. But we can generate cleansing. False and superficial burns in the fire of war very quickly - as if deliberately leaving space THIS .. Through disorder and pain, through the death of comrades and the need to kill in response, through fear for their relatives, through observation of grief, people deprived of their home .. all not just in this war, and this purification and redemption for everyone - you need as a prerequisite of victory .. Atonement. It comes as the inevitable fee perfect. And each is his redemption - and me and you and the Donbass and Ukraine. And everyone is given as much as earned and how many survive ..Ukraine stand, and you do not give up. Bite the bullet and bear their redemption. And do, do what you have to! P / S Today noticed a strange coincidence, the English words atonement - ATOnement .. ATO- Anti-Terrorist Operation.

There can be absolutely no doubt at this point about the Satanic, fascist nature of the junta and its followers. Is humanity going to allow this plague to spread, because spread it will as history shows us. Forget history and you are doomed to repeat it.

Ukraine and the Rise of Euro-Fascism | Global Research

Current events in Ukraine are guided by the evil spirit of fascism and Nazism, though it seemed to have dissipated long ago, after World War II. Seventy years after the war, the genie has escaped from the bottle once again, posing a threat not merely in the form of the insignia and rhetoric of Hitler’s henchmen, but also through an obsessive Drang nach Osten policy.

The bottle has been uncorked, this time, by the Americans. Just as 76 years ago at Munich, when the British and the French gave Hitler their blessing for his eastward march, so in Kiev today, Washington, London and Brussels are inciting Yarosh, Tyahnybok, and other Ukrainian Nazis to war with Russia. One is forced to ask, why do this in the 21st century? And why is Europe, now united in the European Union, taking part in kindling a new war, as if suffering from a total lapse of historical memory?

Answering these questions requires, first of all, an accurate definition of what is happening. This, in turn, must start with identifying the key components of the events, based on facts. The facts are generally known: Yanukovych refused to sign the Association Agreement with the EU, which Ukraine had been under pressure to accept. After that, the United States and its NATO allies physically removed him from power by organizing a violent coup d’état in Kiev and bringing to power a government that was illegitimate, but fully obedient to them. In this article, it will be called “the junta.”

The goal of this aggression was to gain acceptance of the Association Agreement, as is evidenced by the fact it was indeed, prematurely, signed by the EU leaders and the junta only a month after the latter had seized power. They reported (the document bearing their signatures has not yet been made public!) that only the political part of the agreement has been signed, the part that obligates Ukraine to follow the foreign and defense policy of the EU and to participate, under EU direction, in settling regional civil and military conflicts. With this step, adoption of the Agreement as a whole has become a mere technicality.

In essence, the events in Ukraine mark the country’s forcible subordination to the European Union — what may be called “Euro-occupation.” The EU leaders, who insistently lecture us on obedience to the law and the principles of a law-based state, have themselves flouted the rule of law in this case, by signing an illegitimate treaty with an illegitimate government. Yanukovych was ousted because he refused to sign it. This refusal, moreover, needs to be understood in terms not only of the Agreement’s content, but also the fact that he had no legal right to accept it, because the Association Agreement violates the Ukrainian Constitution, which makes no provision for the transfer of state sovereignty to another party.

According to the Ukrainian Constitution, an international agreement that conflicts with the Constitution may be signed only if the Constitution is amended beforehand. The U.S.- and EU-installed junta ignored this requirement. It follows that the U.S. and EU organized the overthrow of Ukraine’s legitimate government, in order to deprive the country of its political independence. The next step will be to impose their preferred economic and trade policies on Ukraine, through its accession to the economic part of the Agreement. Furthermore, although the current Euro-occupation differs from the occupation of Ukraine in 1941 in that, so far, it has occurred without an invasion by foreign armies, its coercive nature is beyond any doubt. Just as the fascists stripped the population of occupied Ukraine of all civil rights, the modern junta and its American and European backers treat the opponents of Euro-integration as criminals, groundlessly accusing them of separatism and terrorism, imprisoning them, or even deploying Nazi guerrillas to shoot them.

The Vineyard of the Saker: The neo-Nazi junta in Kiev dramatically increases its efforts to provoke Russian into an intervention

By now you have all already probably heard it. The CEO of Gazprom, Alexei Miller, has announced that Russia was now implementing a "prepayment only" gas delivery plan for the Ukraine and Lavrov has announced that he has "nothing to talk about" with the Ukie clown currently impersonating a Foreign Minister, Andrii Deshchytsia, and that he "would not meet with him". Unlike the always calm and impeccably diplomatic Lavrov, Miller made no effort to show his complete disgust with, and contempt for, the junta in Kiev whom he clearly sees as blackmailing and stealing mobsters. This was especially evident when he said that the amount of gas the Ukies had set aside in their reserves was exactly the amount of gas which they were now refusing to pay for. To put it in plain English: the Ukies stole gas from Russia to fill up their reserves and they are about to begin stealing gas bought by the Europeans. Nice folks indeed. Very "Euro-compatible" I suppose...

So my first reaction was to rejoice that Lavrov and Miller and finally expressed their total disgust and treated the junta leader with the disgust and contempt they deserve. But then a very unpleasant thought crept up into my mind: is that not exactly what the Ukies wanted?

As I have written a million times now - the junta in power in Kiev is doomed, Banderastan is not viable, the rump-Ukraine is in ruins and terminally broke and there is nobody in the West who can do anything about it. And I bet you that the Ukies know that. This is why from their point of view involving the Russians is vital as Russia is the *only* possible scapegoat on which they can blame it all. So now Russia has "cut off gas" and the Russian Foreign Minister has announced that he will "refuse to meet" with his "Ukrainian counterpart". You know how the Ukie propaganda machine will present that? It will be something along these lines:

For all our efforts to negotiate in good faith with the Moskals who are occupying our land and sending in terrorists to kill our people, the Kremlin imperialists have decided to use the "gas weapon" against our people. Worse, instead of thanking our Miniser of Foreign affairs who, at a great personal risk for himself, confronted a justifiably outraged crowed and calmed them down with some manly humor and thereby saved the Russian "diplomats" (who are really all FSB spies) from the righteous wrath of the people, they have now announced that they will refuse to meet with him. Yet again, the Moskals have shown that they belong to steppes of Asia and not into the community of civilized European nations. Etc. etc. etc.

And, of course, the Ukies will get yet another standing ovation from the western politicians and corporate media. This is so predictable that it is not even funny anymore. But there is something which worries me much more: the Ukie tactic is a sound one. Why?

Well, think of it. If one side is truly desperate to provoke the other side, what are the chances that it will fail? If you and I met somewhere and I would put all my energy and creativity towards the sole goal of getting your attention and force you to respond - how long do you think it will take me to get what I want?

Part Two: The Propaganda War over Ukraine: The New York Times vs. Russia's "White Book" (December 2013) | The Smirking Chimp

When it comes to recent events in Ukraine, Russia’s “White Book,” unlike the New York Times, does not claim to deliver “all the news that is fit to print.” More modestly, it simply claims to address the “violations of human rights and the rule of law in Ukraine” from November 2013 through March 2014.

Such modesty is in order, because the “White Book” inexcusably fails to mention the 30 November 2013 assault on hundreds of protestors in Kiev by Ukraine’s riot police; an assault that provoked hundreds of thousands of protestors to take to the streets there and, thus, threaten the ability of corrupt President Viktor Yanukovych to remain in power.

According to the New York Times (1 Dec. 2013), the assault created a “new revolutionary urgency” among the hundreds of thousands who took to the streets of Kiev. In fact, such “revolutionary urgency” would return to Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square) a few times during the month of December. But it didn’t last.

Nevertheless, the false idea of a “revolution” against Yanukovych’s corrupt, pro-Russia government became a staple in Western mainstream media reporting. At the Times, it was based upon gross incompetence, at best, and malicious dishonesty, at worst. But it served to distort and obscure events, as well as close minds throughout the West.

For example, consider David M. Herszhenhorn’s Times article on December 1st titled, “Thousands Demand Resignation of Ukraine Leader.” While it waxed euphoric about a “new revolutionary urgency,” it failed to say on word about the violence perpetrated by the neo-Nazi group, Right Sector (Pravyi Sektor).

In contrast to the incompetence or dishonesty of Mr. Herszhenhorn, in early January 2014 the highly respected Deputy Director of the Center for Society Research (Kiev), Volodymyr Ishchenko, claimed: “For several hours on December 1, 2013 protesters were violently storming the unarmed police line near the Presidential administration building, until they themselves were finally attacked by the riot police, resulting in the bloodiest street confrontation in the whole history of independent Ukraine, with more than 300 people injured. Despite the popular version blaming the violence on some ‘provocateurs’ numerous investigations show that the overwhelming majority of attackers were the far right and neo-Nazi militants from so called ‘Right-wing sector,’ which unites various nationalist groups participating in Euromaidan.”

Mr. Ishchenko added: “At Euromaidan, particularly, the far-right attacked a left-wing student group attempting to bring social-economic and gender equality issues to the protest. Several days later the far-right mob beat and seriously injured two trade union activists accusing them of being “communists.” Needless to say, the good folks at the Times overlooked these right-wing attacks.

Part One: The Propaganda War over Ukraine: The New York Times vs. Russia’s “White Book” | The Smirking Chimp

Daily examination of the online headlines and news links found on the Kyiv Post allows any disinterested observer to conclude that it is a propaganda bullhorn for the provisional government; the one installed after the duly elected President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, was ousted in a violent anti-Russian coup. Thus, it was hardly a surprise when, on May 6th, the propaganda bullhorn published an article of opinion by Oleh Tiahnybok that was riddled with rubbish.

Mr. Tiahnybok is the leader of “Svoboda,” a right-wing party that captured 38 seats and 10 percent of the vote in the last parliamentary elections and played a significant role in the violent overthrow of President Yanukovych. Now, this fascist is running for president.

“Fascist?” Yes, until 2004, Svoboda was called the Social Nationalist Party of Ukraine and employed neo-Nazi and SS symbols. Even after it changed its name and symbols, Mr. Tiahnybok continued to rail against the “Muscovite-Jewish mafia running Ukraine” and praise the Ukrainian Insurgency Army (UPA) in World War II for fighting “against the Moscali [Muskovites], Germans, Zhydy [Jews] and other scum, who wanted to take away our Ukrainian state.” [see Keith Darden and Lucan Way, Washington Post, 12 Feb. 2014] In his article, Mr. Tiahnybok shamelessly sings the praises of the Ukrainian Insurgency Army.

But he also tells inarticulate lies. Consider his assertion that, “The Russian worldview is shaped by the myth that identifies Ukraine as a Russian cradle.” To believe Mr. Tiahnybok, one would need to deny that the first “Russian” state was established in Kiev in the 9th century and was known as “Kievan Rus’.” Yet, every student of Russia’s history – or at least those who are not liars or fervent Ukrainian nationalists — knows better. Moreover, Ukraine didn’t even exist in the 9th century.

Mr. Tiahnybok also lies when he alleges that President Yanukovych “effectively became a marionette of Putin’s special forces.” Actually, the corrupt Mr. Yanukovych attempted to pit Russia against the European Union (EU) in order to obtain the best deal for Ukraine and himself.

The EU insisted on open markets, the rule of law and economic transparency (which would have threatened the ill-gotten wealth of corrupt Yanukovych and his equally corrupt oligarchs), as well as the release of Yanukovych’s hated political enemy, infamous “vorovka” (thief) Yulia Timoshenko. In return, Ukraine could expect a “radiant” future of law, economic efficiency, prosperity and, most significantly, liberty beyond the reach of Russian control. That radiant future was enough to dupe a majority of the youths living in Western Ukraine, especially the anti-Russian fascists and neo-Nazis living in Lviv, the capital of “Banderastan,” and political stronghold of Mr. Tiahnybok’s Svoboda party.

Videos and Photos of the Odessan Massacre, and Why It Was Done - Washington's Blog

By Eric Zuesse:

For the first time in history, an organized massacre of civilians has been filmed by many people from many different angles and perspectives while it was happening, and is documented in extraordinary detail in “real time,” the perpetrators having no fear of any negative consequences from their endeavor, and even cheering and celebrating the tortures and deaths as they were being imposed upon the helpless victims. The perpetrators were unconcerned, because what they were doing was what the government (which the U.S. had imposed upon their country and which U.S. taxpayers had spent more than 5 billion dollars to bring about there) had wanted them to do, and had helped to organize them to carry out. These people were just having fun, like a party to them, nothing really serious at all. Sort of like Stanley Kubrick’s movie A Clockwork Orange, more than, say Auschwitz (such a bore!). But, if so, a hundredfold more. And none of these people (tragically including the victims) were actors!

Background: On May 2nd, the Ukrainian Government in Kiev, located in the west, ordered local governments in the country’s east to take over the buildings that were being occupied by Russian-speaking Ukrainians who didn’t recognize the legitimacy of that newly installed and U.S.-supported Ukrainian government. There was violence in many cities, one being Odessa, where Russian-speaking Ukrainians were taken into the Trade Unions Building (viewed as leftist by the conservative political parties) and were massacred by burning, gunshots, and other means.

This video from George Eliason, an American living in Ukraine, shows the Trade Unions Building starting to be firebombed; then at 2:28 a big firebomb is blasted into the building and there are cheers, but by the end of the video the flames are strong and the sky can hardly be seen because of the dense smoke from the burning building:

Is the West “Directly” Responsible for the Massacres In Ukraine? | Global Research

FireDogLake reported on Monday:

Breaking during the weekend was a story by Der Spiegel and Bild that American mercenaries were on the ground in Kiev. According to the report 400 mercenaries from Academi (formerly Blackwater) were on the ground “involved in a punitive operation mounted by Ukraine’s new government.”

Der Spiegel claims “the information originates from U.S. intelligence services and was presented during a meeting chaired by the Chancellor’s Office chief Peter Altmaier (CDU). At the meeting were present the president of the intelligence agencies and the Federal Criminal Office, as well as the intelligence coordinator of the Chancellor’s Office and senior Ministry officials.”

Indeed, the German newspaper apparently claim that the American mercenaries are directing and coordinating the attacks by the fascist Right Sector militia.

Blackwater is more or less an extension of the CIA.

There are also dozens of CIA and FBI “advisors” in Ukraine, and the CIA director visited Kiev before the massacres started.

In any event, even if the U.S. is not directly responsible for the massacres, we are certainly indirectly responsible. After all, the U.S. is backing neo-Nazis in Ukraine (and see this).

Don’t believe me?

The leader of the “protests” in February 2014 which ousted the president of Ukraine (Andriy Parubiy) is a neo Nazi and follower of a prominent WWII Ukrainian Nazi.

He’s now the head of national security in Ukraine. In that role, he has organized neo-Nazi brigades to murder Russian-speaking Ukrainians en masse.

Odessa massacre victims died in seconds, not from smoke – emergency service chief — RT News

Victims of the Odessa fire massacre died within seconds, but not from smoke or carbon monoxide suffocation, the head of Odessa's emergency service department, Vladimir Bodelan, said on his Facebook page.

Violent clashes erupted on May 2 between rival rallies of anti-government protesters and radicals supporting the coup-imposed authorities in Kiev. The confrontation led to a tragedy that left 48 people dead and 247 injured as nationalists burnt the protester camp and then set fire to the Trade Unions House with anti-Kiev activists trapped inside. According to witnesses, many of those who managed to escape the flames were then strangled or beaten with bats by radicals.

"I'm sure that 99.9 percent of the people were killed in the Trade Unions House within seconds and did not suffocate from smoke...[or burn in the] fire. But there are forensic experts, we will wait for their findings," Bodelan said.

Bodelan was by the building when it was set on fire and said that even before the smoke spread inside, he saw people leaning outside windows trying to take a breath of fresh air.

“I cannot explain why they were having such trouble breathing, but I am 100 percent sure that it was not because of the smoke caused by the fire,” Bodelan said.

He added that there was a bang after the fire started inside the building, which apparently extinguished the blaze on the central staircase. “In that second, a few people jumped from the building...The majority of them were alive and they were even able to walk on their own two feet. But a couple dozen meters later, they lost consciousness and fell to the ground, with their tragic end known to all.”
