Anastasia Novikova for Komsomolskaya Pravda
Kirill, the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia expressed his concern about Russian churches destroyed in Ukraine.
"Our church is subject to physical pressure: three priests were murdered, over a dozen were arrested, imprisoned, tortured, many expelled from the country. About fifty of our churches are either completely destroyed or severely damaged," - posted Kirill on the website of Russian Orthodox Church.
The Patriarch also said that the Church continues to urge both sides to dialogue and peace. By the way, recently militants of the "Right Sector" captured a church in a village of Butin in Ternopil region in Western part of Ukraine. The radicals refused to let the parishioners into the church, as a result they were prevented from performing a liturgy.
A local priest told me that when he came to the congregation at the church, it was already occupied by representatives of Kievan Patriarchate. The entrance was guarded by the "Right Sector". The police just watched quietly.
The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Moscow Patriarchate was outraged by such actions of the militants.
